Australia is full of foodies. We love our food and we love to be social. If you thought eating out meant leaving your pet friendly cafe
pooch behind, then think again. The amount of Australia’s pet friendly cafes and restaurants are increasing by the day with more and more cafes allowing diners to feast with their furbabies. We have plucked 10 great pet friendly cafes to visit in NSW but stay tuned as we venture to the other states in Australia to find some great pet friendly cafes.

Here are 10 awesome pet friendly cafes in NSW:

1. The Chew Chew

The first five we list will be in neighborhoods of Sydney, while the final five will be outside of Sydney. The Chew Chew, located in Wollstonecraft, Sydney, is a truly luxurious dining experience for your pet. They serve up three-course, gourmet-level meals. Expect things like chicken curry, beef casserole, cappuccinos, and lamb bones to be on the menu. While they do not serve humans at the Chew Chew (its all about the furbabies), they do have take-out options if you are in a hurry.

2. The Winery

In Surry Hills, Sydney, in an out-of-the-traffic atmosphere just off Crown Street, is a romantic getaway where you can wine, dine, and not leave your pet behind. Animals are permitted in the courtyard outside, and provided you don’t get rained on, that’s really the best place to be anyway. It is peaceful, and you pet will have room to run and play. Pet menu items include sausage rolls, ox hearts, bone marrow on toast, and more. This is an ideal spot for both you and your pet to catch a breath and enjoy a fine meal.

3. Cafe Bones

Cafe Bones, in Leichhardt, Sydney, is conveniently adjacent to the Hawthorne Canal Reserve, where your dog can get off of its leash and run free. The cafe specifically caters to dogs and their owners, so cats and other animals may not find it ideal. It is outdoor seating only, but as long as the weather is good, it is a great getaway. Cafe Bones’ doggy biscuits are something of a local legend, and the “pupaccinos” are also quite popular. As the place will be full of other dogs and their owners, there is much opportunity to meet new people and socialize, and the canine guests can do the same.

4. Queens Park Shed

In Queens Park, Sydney, off the side of Darley Road, is the pet-friendly Queens Park Shed. This “shed” is painted up in bright colors on the outside and transformed into a chic cafe on the inside. It is adjacent to a playground in case you come with kids as well as pets, and dogs can go off leash in Queens Park. You will need to avail yourself of the outdoor seating to eat there with your pet, but the atmosphere is very relaxed and pleasant, and you and your pet love the fresh air anyway. The food is excellent, even including upscale menu items like wagyu beef burgers. The food is so good that you may even find yourself hesitant to share with your pet, but who can resist those pitiful, pleading eyes?

5. The Duck Inn Pub and Kitchen

The Duck Inn in Chippendale, Sydney, is one of the few places where you can take your dog or other pet inside to eat. The pub has a long tradition of letting dogs in the building, and it is not likely to change anytime soon. You can still eat outside, however, if you like or just get some fresh air and a walk in the on-site garden. Inside, you will find a “homey” atmosphere with sofas to sink into. You can share a burger or roast with your pet or go with separate orders, but either way, the food will be well worth the visit.

6. Artisan on Lewis

Should you be out and about in Mudgee, consider visiting Artisan on Lewis. Boasting with regional seasonal produce, fresh food delights, and all things handmade this quirky café has a sunny courtyard that  welcomes you and your canine companion to view the garden sculpture while enjoying breakfast, lunch or coffee al fresco.

7. Annie’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor

A hundred and twenty miles inland from Sydney, you may wish to visit the historically important town of Bathurst. When taking a break from your sight-seeing ventures, you and your pet can get an ice cream treat at Annie’s. This is the place to get the best ice cream in town, and your dog can get a drink from a water bowl and a complementary ice cream. How good is that.

8. The Sheoak Shack

In the ocean side town of Tweed Heads, still in New South Wales but not far from the Queensland border and Brisbane, is the pet-friendly Sheoak Shack. Tweed Heads is an outdoor wonderland just waiting to be explored, but you can take a break with a view over the river, dogs-allowed seating, and great food and coffee at Sheoak Shack.

9. The Deck Cafe Lovedale

In the lovely wine filled Hunter Valley is The Deck Cafe, located at Gartelmann Wines in Lovedale.  A super stylish restaurant-style cafe, with a delightful menu complimented by Garltelmann wines and a generous range of beverages and Piazza D’oro coffee. Set amongst young forest bushland, overlooking a picturesque dam providing a calm, relaxing atmosphere, both you and the pooch could get rather settled here on the Deck.

10. Merewether Surfhouse

Take highway M1 north from Sydney, and the next major city you reach is Newcastle. Here, in the neighborhood of Meriwether, you can dine with your pet while spending some time at the beach. The cafe looks over the sands and surf, has outdoor seating for customers with dogs, and prides itself on its pizza and coffee.
