Comfortable but pricey accommodation. As implied by its name, these rooms are solidly constructed to remain comfortable in Coober Pedy’s extremes of climate. The motel is walking distance from the town centre. My room included a modern bathroom, comfortable bed and large TV, but only the most basic of kitchen facilities — pretty typical for a motel, but worth bearing in mind if you’re trying to keep to a budget.

PROS: Comfortable, centrally located
CONS: $50 pet surcharge and limited cooking facilities makes it pricey
