A lot of people avoid this beach because it is associated with the nudist beach, however, this side of the beach is completely safe. It is on the opposite end of Maslin beach to get here you have to go down gulf parade until you see a big playground and then find a park. There is plenty of parking and it is very easy to find, I believe it is one of the easiest beaches to find in SA. There are two ways to the beach, there is the stairs and there is the ramp. The ramp is the way to go because the off leash area starts as soon as the ramp ends. This just makes it less confusing for people, there is a big sign saying OFF LEASH DOG EXERCISING AREA, you can’t miss it. Once your on the beach you can walk as far down the beach as you like, we usually go until we get to a group of rocks and turn back. This is a great location for dog social walks as it is not a hard walk and not to far either. Be aware though, the plantation isn’t really fenced off in most areas so if you have an explorer of a dog like I do its best to leash them up. Especially in summer where there is the threat of snakes. The best part is you can go for a swim with your dog, although you do have to keep in mind that the water can be quite rough at times. If your dog is a real water baby, make sure to keep an eye on them and if you believe they are in danger please put them on leash. This is a very clean beach and I would love to keep it this way, picking up dog poops is a must. After the walk you can head back up to the reserve/playground and give your dog a drink at the tap and also wash off any sand from the beach. The reserve would be such a lovely place to have a picnic after a nice swim/walk, just keep in mind this is an on leash area. There is also public toilets and rubbish bins for your convenience and if you have children they can have a play on the playground. There isn’t many food places close by so I would advise you if you came for a picnic to pack your own food. We love taking our dogs down here especially so they can play with there doggy friends off leash. I highly recommend making a trip to this beautiful beach, just keep to the north side!

Please ensure you go down the ramp and not the stairs. Too many irresponsible dog owners let their dogs off leash at the top of the stairs and let them run riot through the on leash area. Kudos to the owners who do the right thing.
