The North Coast of NSW is one of our favourite travel destinations. Visit popular coastal hotspots of Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Forster and Port Stephens. Soak up untouched, golden beaches like Shoal Bay, Nambucca Heads and South West Rocks. Drive the legendary Pacific Coast and weave through 48 national parks.
And best of all? Take your pet with you! The North Coast is teeming with pet-friendly dining and accommodation options. Here’s a few we recommend.

Mango Tree Cottage

Mango Tree Cottage is nestled on 6 acres of tropical landscape and promises a completely restful and relaxing stay. Located in the Far North Coast of NSW, it is 25 minutes from Byron Bay, 90 minutes from Brisbane and 35 minutes from Mt Warning National Park. Enjoy the feeling of going off-grid, while still taking advantage of the small coastal towns nearby. This pet-friendly accommodation is self-contained and sleeps a maximum of 6, with 2 bedrooms and a sofa bed. Kick back in front of a log fire, break out the DVDs and board games or soak in the claw-foot bathtub. Plus, fluffy bathrobes and bath salts are guaranteed!

Dogs and cats are welcome inside the property and toys, bedding, food and water bowls and welcome treats are all provided. The deck measures 50 square metres with secured gates that are enclosed for the protection of your pets. There’s also a sizeable lawn area and massive paddock, so your pets can romp around to their heart’s content.

Coronation Kennels and Cattery, Coffs Harbour

Exploring the North Coast, but need to leave your furry family member behind for a little while? There’s no place like Coronation Kennels and Cattery. Located at Congarinni North and 20 minutes from Nambucca Heads, it is a completely new pet boarding complex. Rest assured that your pet will be treated like royalty, whether they’re in for pet daycare, overnight accommodation or an extended stay.

Dog accommodation options include Luxury Small Dog individual rooms, with vinyl floors, a sun area and grassed play yard, and Medium/Large Dog kennels, with verandah and exercise yard. Your dog is fed twice daily with Royal Canin and Black Hawke (plus BBQ chicken or home cooked corn beef for the fussy eater!) Plus, the cattery is so popular that it’s continually booked out a fortnight in advance, at a tiny $12 per day. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Sea Horse Diamond Beach

Sea Horse Diamond Beach will be a home away from home for you (and your four-legged friends). Located close to Forster and Tuncurry, this pet-friendly accommodation is a fantastic base from which to explore Diamond Beach and the Mid-North Coast. The house sleeps up to 12 and is self-contained with spacious living areas, a fully equipped kitchen, hand-built stone open fireplace, wifi and BBQ decks. Kick back and relax in the gorgeous tropical pool, explore the 6 acre property or mosey down to Diamond Beach (only 800 metres away).

Your dogs are more than welcome inside and outside. The 1 acre yard is securely fenced and dog bowls, blankets and toys are provided. Sea Horse Diamond Beach has a large and comfortable doggie bay pen, should you need to leave your fur-baby at home for the day, or they have dog-sitting available on arrangement. The surrounding area has plenty of dog-friendly beaches and pet-friendly cafes close-by. The property is also horse-friendly, hosting 3x airy stables and a 2 acre grassy paddock.

Reflections Holiday Parks Scotts Head

Scotts Head showcases the best the North Coast has to offer. Reflections Holiday Parks Scotts Head is an hour’s drive south of Coffs Harbour and perfectly situated between Sydney and Brisbane. It boasts prime beachfront position and the peace and quiet will have you feeling like you’ve found paradise. With plenty of large sites, caravans, RVs and tents are all welcome.

There’s no shortage of things to see and do in the area. Take advantage of the incredible coast with a swim, snorkel or surf. The sunset views from the famous whale tail table can’t be missed. The park is located close to the local bowling club, which makes a great dining choice for the whole family. Your dogs are more than welcome on the park site in off-season periods.

Cafe 180

One of Coffs Harbour’s favourite pet-friendly cafes, Cafe 180 has everything you’re looking for. Head Chef Phill boasts 20 years experience and the delicious meals, homemade cakes (baked fresh daily!) and quality coffee certainly attest to it. The cafe is located on Park Beach Road, halfway between the Plaza and the beach in Northside Shopping Centre. Cafe 180 offers a relaxed, warm and family friendly atmosphere. It’s child-friendly, with a change table available for use, and of course, 100% pet-friendly!
